It's a "bad" system that limits your freedom, yes, but it does so to avoid other problems that happened to most without it. It also makes the game more dynamic, and of course, challenging, so each playthrough with it will be unique compared to the lastest. Imposing cards (that I half-suggested, wasn't exactly how I had in mind though) came to force players do adapt and try new cards, forcing the players to leave their comfort zone. I'll just tell a tale about card imposing, since I'm here from the beggining of early access.Īt first the game didn't feature cursing/imposing, so what happened: everyone just created a "deck of cards" that was apparently "perfect" and would keep using it. Go to \STEAMAPPS\common\Return 2 Games folder, and open custom_settings.txt file. You can disable Imposing Cards in a "hidden setting". Since the Roguelike Genre has burnt out quite a few people, so it'd be a shame if for example, you began to focus more and more on it to the point where non Roguelike gets left in the dust. But I hope you, the developers, don't lose site of this being an appeal. People like myself prefer non roguelike styles and given you didn't force the game into that makes it much more enjoyable personally. I do feel this is more to do with the whole "Roguelike" element focus that I hope doesn't tunnel vision. So, same with Cursing, I'd like it to be optional. Because I want it to be difficult, but not have to lose control of my build for it. Is there anyway that you could allow for the "Card Imposing" to be optional? Like a tab in or out. I perfer to be able to switch the card I need for the job, rather than this. And I'd have to grind down a boss or simply die because my critical tools aren't usable. If this were a big boss battle, This would force me into a absurd situation where I lose some of my best tools and takes a big hand out of planning and making a more versital build. I had a critical card to my build, the Cluster card, cursed, early on for a lower tier fight. Because say in a critical boss battle, some of your most useful cards are now completely cursed. Sacraficing the Ice Mace and Sharp Blizzard because I wanted to keep the core of my build still intact.Īlso, I see a SERIOUS potential issue with Card Cursing. Here is the Book of Demons Steam Early Access Trailer:īook of Demons is available for PC on Steam Early Access.I've began hard mode, and I already feel an issue.īeing forced to use specific cards, especially ones that don't complement can make a well optimised build get weakened, when you spent time optimising.įor example, a build guide I uses alot of cards with great synergy together.
